Blaen Glasgwm Isaf

The cottage attached to our small farmhouse is set in about 5 acres of land and surrounded by farmland, forestry commission land and is in the Snowdonia National Park. We are situated a couple of miles outside the village in a very secluded quiet rural setting. The area was once described in a national newspaper as "the best kept secret valley in North Wales." The last 1½ miles to the cottage is through beautiful woodland with lovely views along a single track road with passing places. There is one farm gate that prevents the farmer's sheep escaping into the woods. The cottage is a converted stone barn with a Welsh slate roof. The cowshed, which is now the living room and kitchen/dining area dates back to the early 17th century. A roof truss is still in place, miraculously with some bark on it. The rest of the barn was extended around the1880's. When we were converting the barn we used as much reclaimed materials as we could to keep the feeling of period living but with 21st. century comfort. The cottage has full under floor central heating, double glazing and is fully insulated. The bedroom has period oak furniture and used to be the hay barn. The bathroom has a bath with shower over, loo, bidet, wash hand basin and heated towel rail. There is a clothes airer above the bath as well as an airing cupboard over the boiler in the hall. The bathroom and hall was once the cart shed.

The floor, like the hall, is slate we reclaimed from the hay barn. The living area has an inglenook fireplace with a multifuel stove. There is TV, Radio, Video, CD, and DVD player.
The cottage is in a very peaceful, quiet, rural location and therefore perfect to escape from the 'rat race', and to get away from it all into the countryside but we are less than 15 minutes drive from Betws-y-Coed, the coast is about 25 miles away and it is convenient for visiting attractions and sightseeing throughout North Wales.

The kitchen is hand made from oak and beech. There is a cooker, microwave, dishwasher, freezer, fridge and washing machine.
Linen, towels electricity/gas are included in the price as well as initial supply of coal and wood.

Cyclists of all levels can join the Penmachno mountain bike trail. This is
a dedicated single-track trail that has been built to national standards and
is only a few minutes ride from the cottage. There is secure covered
storage attached to the cottage.

On our land we have ducks and geese and hens. The river Glasgwm runs through our land and 20 yards from the front door our gate leads onto forest tracks and
lovely walks.
Outside. There is parking next to the front door. The riverside garden with a bench seat is for guests and there is a bbq. picnic table, garden chairs and bench immediately outside the cottage.
