Betws-y-Coed Arts Festival 2009.
The Betws-y-Coed Arts Festival is being held between 16th and 19th April 2009 in the village of Betws-y-Coed in the Conwy Valley in Snowdonia, North Wales.

Ever since the original artists' colony, Betws-y-Coed and the Conwy Valley have retained a strong connection with the arts. Many artists and craftsmen live and work in the area, and in this 165th year since David Coxs first visit to Betws-y-Coed, the festival has been organised to celebrate the artistic heritage of the area and those artists currently working here.

The artists of the future also play an important part in the festival with an exhibition of work by local school pupils - the result of a project between Alison Bradley, Bernie Rippon of Oriel Mostyn, Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy, and Betws-y-Coed Primary School.
Alongside the exhibitions of historic and contemporary visual art, the festival features classes and workshops, musical events, writing, poetry and storytelling.
On behalf of the organising committee, welcome to Betws-y-Coed and we hope you enjoy the festival.

Peter Lord, one of Wales' foremost art historians and author of a book on the subject, will be giving an illustrated talk on the Betws-y-Coed Artists Colony 1844 - 1914 on the Saturday.
