PEACEFUL ACCOMMODATION IN STUNNING SNOWDONIA - AN EXCELLENT CENTRAL BASE - Minimum 2 nights stay
The three stunning photographs at the top of our webpage are of Crafnant Lake - just above our village - which were taken by our guest - Michael Da Silva - who has kindly allowed us to use them.
Crafnant Guest House built in the Victorian era is centrally placed in this tranquil village of Trefriw, just 6 miles from Betws-y-Coed, in the heart of Snowdonia, an ideal central base to explore the Snowdonia National Park and Conwy Valley. Your hosts - Jan & Mike Bertenshaw provide bed & breakfast in a relaxing place to stay where you can rest assured of a warm welcome.
The photo below is taken from the bottom of our garden - where you can sit and enjoy the view. Our garden has previously won awards for being a haven for wildlife.
Many people choose Trefriw as their destination as they appreciate its unspoilt charm and peaceful, relaxing setting away from the hustle and bustle of traffic and crowds yet within easy reach of the busier resorts. There are numerous areas of natural beauty to explore including the beautiful lakes which nestle just above in the wooded valleys. There are many activities and attractions to be enjoyed Bodnant Gardens are just a short drive away. Many guests allow themselves plenty of time to simply wind down and relax. More information on local activities and attractions can be found on the tabs to the top left.
We are just a five minute drive from SURF SNOWDONIA which is an exciting new inland surf park which opened 1st August 2015.
From the village there are many walks you can take from our doorstep a short stroll over Gower footpath to the market town of Llanrwst will take just 30 minutes or you can enjoy a more strenuous walk up to the lakes and enjoy a pot of tea and piece of cake before returning home. Trefriw Trails provide a network of footpaths all starting from our village. We are just 6 miles from Betws-y-Coed and 9 miles from Conwy.
At the end of your day you can park your car in our PRIVATE CAR PARK at the rear of the property.
There are a number of places in and around the village which serve excellent food - we have The Old Ship, Chandlers Brassiere, The Princes Arms & The Fairy Falls - all four places are just a stroll away.
The Guest House is appointed to a very high standard and retains its period character, elegance and charm.
Most bedrooms are en-suite - all have:
* Hand crafted iron beds with fresh white linen
* Colour TV
* Tea & Coffee making facilities
* Gas central heating
For our guests we have two lounges - a smaller one on the ground floor which houses a vast collection of books & tourism leaflets for the area. A larger lounge is on the first floor where guests can relax in comfort and read or play a board game or a jigsaw puzzle.
When we were awarded a sustainable tourism prize we purchased some hens with the funds and our good friend Sue who lives in the hills above Trefriw looks after them for us and delivers the eggs down on a regular basis we can therefore boast that our eggs are certainly fresh and free range and our local butcher supplies the fabulous home-made sausage and top class bacon.
